Who works on your software

VirtuoLab is small on purpose. The developer you talk to in the first call also designs and builds your software, and answers your questions after launch.

Mustafa Kose, founder and developer of VirtuoLab

Mustafa Kose

Founder, designer and developer

Mustafa Kose has been building websites since he was about twelve. What started with HTML, CSS and drawing buttons in PhotoImpact became a profession: from design in Photoshop to databases, apps and server security. With VirtuoLab he builds custom software for companies in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, plus two products of its own: FiscalDesk and Bouwklok.

From PhotoImpact to Next.js

How a hobby on the family computer grew into a software agency.

  1. The first web pages

At around twelve, Mustafa wrote his first HTML and CSS. In PhotoImpact he made the graphics to go with it: logos, banners and buttons. That taught him early that a website is two things: how it looks and how it works.

  2. Programming in PHP and C++

Then came programming. With PHP he built pages that actually did something, such as forms and login systems. With C++ he learned how software works under the hood: logic, memory and algorithms.

  3. Designing and slicing

Over the years he designed complete pages in Photoshop and Illustrator and 'sliced' them into HTML: cutting the design into pieces and rebuilding it pixel by pixel in the browser. That is where the eye for detail in every project comes from.

  4. WordPress and databases

From single pages to complete systems: themes and plugins for WordPress, and SQL databases that keep track of orders, customers and content. That is the foundation of the WordPress plugins and integrations VirtuoLab builds today.

  5. Modern web and app development

Today he works with TypeScript, React, Next.js and Node.js for web apps, React Native for iOS and Android, and PostgreSQL for data. The same technology runs virtuolab.dev itself.

  6. Security and ethical hacking

Mustafa is a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), a certification from EC-Council. Knowing how an attacker thinks changes how you build: at VirtuoLab, security is part of the first line of code and of every server, not an add-on afterwards.

  7. VirtuoLab

In 2026 he founded VirtuoLab in Papendrecht, the Netherlands. Alongside custom work for clients, VirtuoLab builds and runs two products of its own: FiscalDesk, accounting software for accounting firms, and Bouwklok, time tracking for construction.

Why one developer?

At VirtuoLab nobody sits between you and the person building your software. You explain your idea once, and whoever makes the design also knows how it will be built and secured. To be fair, one person can only run a few projects at a time. That is why you get a schedule up front, and hear straight away if something does not fit.
